COURSE DATES FOR 2021 RELEASED

I've planned 7 courses for later in the year with some nice projects and plenty of skills and techniques. Full details of all the courses can be found on my website www.davidbarronfurniture.co.uk

The dovetail box is a 2 day course preceded by a 1 day sharpening course (optional). You will learn how to cut perfect dovetails straight from the saw as well as plenty of use on the shooting board.

The mitred corner jewellery box is a challenging project that will teach you how to create gap free mitres, a piston fit tray and soft close lid. You will also line the box in pig suede and make a stand.

A 2 day course making a very useful Krenov style wooden hand plane, fitted with a Ron Hock blade and chip breaker. 

Another challenging project is this lovely angled dovetailed chest. You will learn how to cut perfect compound angled dovetails by hand as well as cutting bridle joints on the lid.

I ran this tool chest course back in 2015 and produced a YouTube video showing the piston fit tray and soft close lid. I have condensed this course into 3 days so it will be quite intense with plenty of dovetailing.

This lovely little box has angled dovetail sides and a nice curved lift off lid. For anyone who has attended my course Hand Cut Dovetail Made Easy, this wold be a great next project. As mentioned full details are now available on my website www.davidbarronfurniture.co.uk

 

ALAN PETERS CHEST COMPLETE

I've been working on this Alan Peters inspired chest, on and off, for nearly a year now. It's made from elm which came from from Alans workshop and was purchased from his wife after his sad passing. The drawer fronts are burr elm which I band sawed to a thickness of 2 mm, this enabled me to match the grain making good use of the precious board. I turned through dovetails in to half blind and is a technique I have often used.

With the chest complete I'll be able to concentrate on preparing for a range of courses in the Autumn. I will release the detail and dates in the next week or so.
