Cute Little Customer Box

Here's a couple of pictures from a customer in NC USA. As a beginner I think he should be proud!

You can see the groove for the box bottom has run straight through the pins and needs filling. I'm so used to doing stop cuts on the router table to avoid this, I'm not sure of the best way to achieve this with hand tools (scratch stock?). Can anyone help me (and Dan)?

  1. You can use a router plane if you're careful.

    1. Thank you, I assume that would be with a fence attached and then maybe finished off with a small chisel.

    2. That would be the easiest way to do it. You can also do it with a plow plane if you're careful. Just plow up to the mark where you need to stop and clean the end with a chisel.

    4. This is my preferred hand method as well.

  2. You can miter the corners which will allow a through groove.
